every 3 year old should have a cashmere sweater

I'm pretty sure Gray was the only kid in his preschool class this morning dressed in cashmere. Courtesy of Aunt Jane, my Sister in Fashion. The woman has style.

The other day Miller said to me, "Mom, why can't I just be like a REGULAR kid who gets to wear shirts with stuff on the front?"

And in a statement that is sure to come back to haunt me, I replied, "Because their parents don't have my sense of style."

Yes, and not only did I say it, I meant it. Okay, well I halfway meant it. ;-) I see how other kids are dressed and I almost shriek in horror. Yu-Gi-Oh t-shirts with sweat pants. Tacky yellow and black Steelers sweatshirts with coordinating nylon jackets. Just because they are BOYS doesn't mean they can't have style, people!!

I know I'm a fashion snob. And it isn't because I'm designer girl. I'm not wearing heels with my jeans... I much prefer my Danskos and a cozy sweater. But I will tell you, I want my kids to look cute. It can come from Target, but it has to be cute.

Thanks, Jane. It is SO me. Uh, I mean, it is SO Gray. :-)

I'm right there with you for the most part. I don't think I've quite obtained "freak" status though. I would be way too afraid to send Ryan to preschool in cashmere. Weren't you worried about paint?!

When you buy cashmere at TJMaxx at the end of the season, you don't have to worry about paint. Cashmere just acquires patina -- especially on a 3 year old.

I couldn't resist, and he looks great in it, doesn't he?
