all work and no play...
If you've been looking for me, I'm the girl buried under a pile of paperwork and Diet Coke cans, slumped in her computer chair using her worst posture, proofing and returning emails as fast as she can.Sigh.
This week was hard. It started with Gray's appointment on Monday. Mark and I left more confused than we started, but suffice it to say that we'll be seeking a second opinion. Both the dr. and the speech pathologist we saw had other clinics they needed to be at within the hour, and we felt very rushed through. I'm sure they're both great and qualified, but "come back in 6 months" wasn't really the answer I was looking for, especially when my child should be starting kindergarten in less than 11 months. We will go back in 6 weeks and hope that he passes his hearing test this time, as that is required before the school system will start him in speech therapy. (He can hear, believe me, but we are afraid that he isn't comprehending the test or that his excessive ear wax issue is causing sounds to sound mumbled to him.)
Miller is also going through a rough patch, especially at school. We are seeking some professional help for him and hope that will help his issues at school. When it rains, it pours.
Everett, other than being cranky while getting a few new teeth, is doing just fine. His newest trick is exceptionally cute. When you ask him where his ears are, he point to his ears. When you ask him where his nose is, he shakes his head "no." Love that little bald man of mine!
Work is overwhelming at the moment. Never enough time, always too much work. I'm bracing myself for my busiest time of year. I'll plow through, just like I always do:-)

Dear Gretchen & Mark,
On Friday night, Peter's son, Daniel arrived with his girlfriend, Linda, all set for his 2nd year at College. He worked at a boring job all summer, packed his own car, signed up for classes (he did drop two huge garbage bags of dirty laundry the weekend before), and was incredibly grateful for dinner, the clean clothes and a full tank of gas that his dad bought for him.
It was an amazing tranformation from kid to young man. I have every faith this will happen to you all, too.
It's definitely worth it.
Much love,
Aunt J
