kindergarten boy
Two down, one to go.Gray started kindergarten this week. He did half-day, private kindergarten last year... but this year, he is going to Miller's school. He was lucky enough to get Aileen, Miller's first grade teacher whom we LOVE. She is just a remarkable, warm, loving, and smart woman who was born to be a teacher. She is the perfect continuation of his excellent teachers from last year.
He seems to be thriving so far. And, word on the street is that he is actually TALKING at school. This is huge for my silent guy. Our school does home visits before the beginning of the school year, so I think that was a big help for my super shy boy. He has made a good new friend, Ian, and comes home and talks about him every day. If you would have told me two years ago that he would be at this point now, I would have never believed it.
Miller also started 4th grade this week. I really cannot believe I have a 4th grader. He seems to be doing well so far, but it is just the first week and I'm not holding my breath. He was really excited to get a guy teacher this year, Brent, and hopefully Brent will not put up with any of Miller's antics.
I'm going to post a slideshow soon, but for now, here are just a few pictures of the first day. Oh, and I forgot to mention the funniest part. When we took him in the first day, about half of the class had been measured on a growth chart on the wall. We knew Gray would surely be one of the tallest in the class (he's a year older than a few of the kids), but we did not expect him to be NINE INCHES taller than the smallest kid. Cracked us up. Gray the Giant.
