new year, new mom
I have always tried my hardest NOT to set New Years resolutions. Because really, we all know that is just inviting failure. But one morning last week while I was getting the kids ready for school, I made one. I decided I needed to stop yelling.
I've been yell-free for nearly a week now, and I have to say it is rather refreshing. I had a moment of clarity where I realized that I must sound like a complete lunatic, and that it must stop. (It was either that, or the cumulative result of watching too much "Super Nanny"... not quite sure which.) I can't say that I haven't raised my voice, or called other drivers terms such as "dumbass" while in the car, but hey, this is a big step for me.
I'm also vowing to exercise more this year, but that is a fairly easy one to succeed at since 2006's exercise plan consisted mostly of a) chasing 2 year olds with a camera two to three times a week and b) chasing my kids after they'd injured one of their siblings. Getting out for regular power walks with my iPod has been a nice break from the chaos I call home.
Here's to a more peaceful 2007:-)

Good Luck, Gretchen! Those are two resolutions I need to make as well.
By the way, great picture of you!

You go girl! You've inspired me!--in more ways than one--but am talking about the no yelling! It's so easy to do sometimes! Love seeing this photo of you two!!
I have to say I am impressed. I don't think I could do it - not that it wouldn't be a good thing around here. Way to go! I bet your boys will change because of it too.
