belated birthday boy

My tiny boy is 2.

He turned two on June 2nd, and I feel pretty pathetic for having waiting NINE MORE DAYS to put the pictures from his birthday on my blog. We had a nice, relaxed day, with a pizza lunch at the Mellow Mushroom, followed by a truck cake and lots of riding in the new Cozy Coupe. The Cozy Coupe (shown in the last picture) was clearly THE BEST birthday present we could have ever given him, and he has played with it every day since. The day after his birthday it was pouring rain, and he insisted on sitting on the front porch for hours in his snazzy new set of wheels since he couldn't actually be out riding around in it.

He still looks like a baby to me, and the lady at the store when Mark was getting him his cake asked if Everett was turning one. Aw, poor guy! Not only is he constantly being mistaken for a girl, but now for a one year old. Poor kid can't catch a break! :-) (I'm still on the look out for an "I'm not a girl" t-shirt.)

At this age, Miller was carrying on a conversation with us, complete with complex thoughts and well-articulated paragraphs. Gray was pretty much silent. Everett is a happy medium... his speech has exploded in the last month or so, but he still really isn't talking in sentences. He even pooped in the potty last week... a fluke, I'm sure, but a sign that he is well on his way to the road of big boy. I'm a little misty just thinking about my baby growing up.

He's the family comedian, and even though he has now decided that sleep is for babies and tortures us with his screeching any time we even mention the word "bed", we think we'll keep him.

The best present you could ever get a two-year old boy:
