august busy-ness

So I've become such a slacker at keeping this blog updated. I'm blaming Facebook, aka: Crackbook. I've been posting all of my pictures there in albums... for some reason, it seems so much easier than keeping my blog updated. In other words, if you want more frequent photo updates, join Facebook and add me to your friend list.

Life is good. Busy, but good. The boys are full-swing back into school, with the exception of Everett, who we've discovered is quite delightful as an only child during the school day! (He goes back in September - five mornings a week this year.) Miller seems to be responding well to having a male teacher... I do not know what it is, but I think having a man teacher is a little scarier to him than having a woman, so he does not seem to be pulling his usual antics.

Gray has surprised and utterly delighted us by SPEAKING in school. It is like a little miracle has occurred for us... he was practically mute all 4 years at his preschool, and now, he is a little talker. (He talked at home of course - it was just at school for all those years that he wouldn't say much of anything.) He comes home from Aileen's kindergarten class singing songs and telling us about his day. Tonight at dinner he told us about how when he walks in in the mornings, Aileen always says "Good morning, Gray." I asked him what he said back, and in a very confident voice (with a hint of duh in his voice) replied "I say 'Good morning, Aileen.'" As in, well what the hell else would I say, mom? Oh. My. God. I love that kid.

Everett keeps us laughing by proclaiming every day to be his birthday. "Today is my birthday!" And you had better not tell him it isn't, because crying/arguing is sure to commence immediately afterwards. So every day is Everett's birthday at our house.

I'm about to make some business changes, most notably: I'm going to be working only from my studio from now on. I ordered a new iMac for my office and am going to do my best to only work from there. The line is just too blurry when I do part of my work at the studio and part of it from home. And, Mark is weird and likes me to be gone during the day. It is going to be an adjustment, because right now I do most of my proofing at home and use my studio for meeting clients, packaging orders, etc. I'm not utilizing it as much as I could be. I'll update in a few months and let you know how it is going. It should be interesting to see how the new plan works during the busy season.

Yawn. I'll update again soon, but in the meantime, you can catch me over at Facebook:-)

The turtle pictures remind me of Mark's turtle. One time he was feeding the turtle, and it nabbed his finger and went back into the shell. Mark was in the garage screaming. I'll have to admit, I don't know how Mom got the turtle to let go.

Great pics of the boys...
