a month since my last post? pathetic!
Blah-dee-blah. Same old story. I suck at updating my blog lately. So here is the Cliff's Notes version of what is going on with us:
- The big boys have been out on intersession. Because they go to a year-round school, they have 3-week breaks three times a year in addition to their summer break. And while I love my children dearly, I don't really love them quite so much while on intersession. It wears me out. But more importantly, it wears poor Mark out. As Mr. Mom, he bears the brunt of the work with the boys, especially this time of year when work is particularly busy for me. They fight. They argue. They whine. They cry. Poor Mark. Five more days and they are back at school. How homeschoolers do it, I do not know because I would POKE OUT MY EYES WITH A DIRTY STICK.
- I hired Everett's teacher to help me out about 10 hours a week. Thank you, lord jesus, because she rocks my world and it is completely worth it. The only thing I wonder is why I didn't do it earlier. She is so fantastic and how nice to have someone to keep me company a few hours every afternoon.
- Speaking of work, I have moved all of my operations to the studio. And boy, is it NICE. I used to do all of my proofing at home and then yell at the kids for making too much noise. Made a lot of sense, huh? So now I'm actually getting my money's worth out of my space, and I feel less inclined to work on client stuff at home. Such a treat.
- And perhaps the most exciting news to Mark is that I'm actually using my Y membership. I really shouldn't even admit how long I've belonged to the Y, never, ever going. Want to talk about pathetic? Now THAT was pathetic. Anyway, I've decided to actually work out regularly for the first time since, ahem, college (hanging my head in shame) in an effort to burn off some steam and not get so stressed this holiday season.
- Oh, and those yucky people are still parking in the yard of our old house. Grr. Will I ever get over that? I do not think so.
I guess that is it. I spend most days working and praying to the good lord above that Sarah Palin is nowhere near Washington on Jan. 20th, 2009. She scares the bejesus out of me. Gobama.
